When it comes to writing a strong argumentative essay, it is fair to say that it can be easier said than one to be successful in this endeavour. It can be a challenge to know how to approach writing an argumentative essay from a strong angle because the nature of a custom essay is that the intent is to persuade the reader to your perspective of thinking. Individuals struggle with this concept because it is one thing to have our own perspectives and opinions, but it is quite another to voice them in a way where you must justify them to other parties.

Considering the somewhat challenging nature of successfully writing a strong argumentative essay, it goes without saying that most (if not all) writers could use a little sage advice to bridge the gaps in their own approach to writing an argumentative essay. Thankfully, there is advice out there that is not only useful on the surface, but genuinely impactful underneath the surface. Here are the three top tips to writing a strong argumentative essay, and how to go about ensuring that you utilise them in your own argumentative essays in the future.

Carefully consider your own angle

The best argumentative essays are hailed as such because they are original, they do not spit the same arguments that have been presented prior from the minds of other individuals. If you are going to write an argumentative essay on a topic, you should have a clear personal opinion on that topic – or else why write it at all? Taking the time to consider your own angle is crucial to the authenticity and transparency of your argumentative essay. There is nothing wrong with doing research and learning about the perspectives of others on your chosen topic, but you must ensure that you do not let their opinions or perspectives cloud your own.

Present both sides of the argument first

It is important to ensure that you present both sides of the argument. If you only present the side you are arguing for throughout the entire essay, it comes off as though you are just trash talking all other perspectives. You must show that you can think critically about the material you are dealing with, and that requires making an effort to understand said material from all angles before you take your stance. Doing this also ensures that you take the reader on a journey where you can persuade them to your point of view by giving them all the angles before trying to bring them over to one train of perspective or thinking. First and foremost, present both sides of the argument.

Give adequate focus to your introduction

The introduction of your argumentative essay sets the tone for what readers can expect moving forward. Getting your introduction right essentially lays down the expectation for what is to come, as well as giving you a genuine place to introduce the reader to the source of the argument before you dive into the argument itself. Always prioritise your introduction because this is where it all starts for the reader.
