Shawn Finnegan, a serial entrepreneur with a keen insight into the process of building a successful business and a pioneer in business innovation, recently spoke about the principles of his business strategy.

Shawn realized early on that in order to succeed it is not necessary to be the primary focus of everything. Shawn learned early that people must be at the heart of all he did. He explained that being deeply concerned about his staff and helping them improve their skills and helping them deliver exceptional customer service have always yielded dividends. This has allowed him to overcome the many obstacles with starting and growing the business.

"People should be valued and respected. All my businesses that I've started and the people I work with (colleagues and customers) get treated like the special, valuable individuals they are."

Customers are Assets

Shawn believes that customer service in the United States is an art that is dying. He chose to be open and available to his team instead of taking the easier route. He makes clients feel comfortable around his presence, and they are able to be able to approach him as mentors and trusted advisors.

"I believe in working with others and respecting each other. I also believe in helping individuals succeed in their roles within the organization. You can count on me to help them align their values with what they'd like to achieve in career advancement and how we can all best serve our customers."

Establishing Relationships to Lower Turnover

Shawn told us that entrepreneurs should work on decreasing turnover and the issues that go with it. It is done by emphasizing a commitment to the people who work in the company and establishing an environment of respect for employees and customers.

"Ultimately respect for individuals is the most important thing to consider in every business connection."
